The silent system mutes the acoustic piano sound. This is done by a stop bar catching the hammers before they touch the strings. However, you can still hear the sound through headphones. Of course, installing the system does not reduce the value of your instrument. The stop bar can also be deactivated so that you can continue to play the piano acoustically. To ensure that your piano maintains a stable sound, it must be tuned regularly. Keyboard instruments such as pianos and grand pianos are mostly made of wood and felt, which absorb moisture from the air and release it back into it. They also react to temperature and can warp. Sound changes can also occur when the strings of the instrument pull on the tuning pegs. To ensure that you can enjoy your instrument for a long time, you should have it tuned regularly. The piano should be tuned by a professional at least once a year. If it has been tuned more than a year ago, several sessions may be necessary to restore the instrument's good sound. You can also help to ensure that the tuning of your piano remains constant for a long time. Make sure that the humidity in the room in question does not fluctuate greatly and, for example, set up a humidifier.
